Intercom Unit from Idea to Trade Show Floor in Two Weeks
Cyrus Claffery, CEO of ButterflyMX, came to Novo Product Labs with a highly successful intercom unit system he was selling all around NYC with great success. With the large building market (100+ domiciles) mostly locked down, Cyrus wanted to move into the mid-size building market (20-100 domiciles) with a new, smaller, and cheaper intercom unit.
Novo turned several sketches Cyrus provided into 3D CAD models that Cyrus requested several rounds of changes to until he was satisfied with the digital design a week later. Then, Novo spent a week 3D printing units and testing them on various buildings, making 10 rounds of changes to the design until it was perfected.
With a finalized design in-hand, Novo 3D printed three copies of the new intercom unit in various colors. Cyrus took the three copies to a large trade show where numerous companies and individuals expressed interest in integrating the intercom system into their multi-unit properties.
